SHADOWLAWN
Contemporary Interior Design Style
This was an inexpensive bathroom remodel using stock bathroom cabinets and combination tiles from a discount tile store. The homeowners’ goal for the bathroom remodel included a walk in shower with shower seat, an enclosed room for the toilet and a double sink vanity. They wanted a modern bathroom style with a neutral color pallet that would flow from the primary bedroom interior finishes.
When I first looked at the existing bathroom I was struck by the amount of wasted space… while the bathroom was the size of a stamp the hallway between it and the small walk-in closet was 5′ wide. By making some architectural changes to use the hallway and relocate the closet entrance I was able to improve the design layout for the homeowners, establishing a foundation for a luxury bathroom.
White porcelain tile with gray marble like veining in 2′ x 4′ large scale panels installed vertically creates the perfect monolithic surround to the contemporary shower enclosure. A brick floor design was created with the same white and gray tiles in a 1′ x 2′ format continuing the clean look in the shower and bathroom. Vanity and shower niche are accented with small scale blue-gray artisan brick patterned tile providing contrast and texture against the spa blue wall coloration. I used a combination of textures, mixed metals, and unique modern lighting fixtures for this bathroom remodel for a modern aesthetic. The closet design layout was reworked with custom clothing storage, custom designed shoe storage and linen cabinet.
